Greenhouse production of floricultural and other crops is a major segment of U.S., as well as Georgia agriculture. The greenhouse industry is one of the most highly technical segments of agricultural production, and it is one of the fastest growing industries in our state.
Hort 4050 builds upon principles of environmental control to prepare students for a career in:
1) Management of commercial greenhouses
2) Management of educational or research greenhouses
3) Training of others via the classroom or extension/outreach channels, who in turn will manage commercial or institutional greenhouses.
It introduces the concepts of environmental management that are not possible in most other agricultural production regimes.
