- The participant will gain a worldwide perspective of the
rapidly growing floriculture industry. We will cover the selection
of a commercial greenhouse site, construction, heating, cooling,
and water management equipment. Emphasis will be placed on greenhouse
cost accounting, analysis, and business management. Other topics:
root substrates, sanitation, water, fertilization, chemical growth
regulation, temperature, light, and marketing. Hands-on experience
in greenhouse operations plus trips to commercial greenhouses
and markets will be undertaken. Extensive greenhouse crop production
is covered in Hort 4060, the second course in the series. This
couse provides the skills necessary to manage a greenhouse environment.
